The Amazing Power Of Making Decisions

2013 01 11 1501 The Amazing Power Of Making DecisionsEverything we possibly desire in life comes down to directly to the power of making decisions related to it.

If you think about it, there is absolutely nothing that does not require the decision making process.
The great men who have been successful have not reached their dreams over night or it is not because they had a bigger brain or head than the other failures, it is only because they invested their time in the power of making decisions and they were willing to stick to it.

There is a very thin line between poverty and prosperity and this thin line is based on the quality of decisions we make in our life.
This decision making process is something one should think and analyze on their own. No one would implement this process for you nor should one expect someone to do it for you. An individual’s destiny is related to be able to wisely choose between the different options available.
Having said that the decision should not take too much of your time. A rich man would not waste much time making up his mind on a great investment opportunity. On the other hand a poor man would always delay in taking a decision on a great business opportunity as he is not sure if he wants to take that risk.

There is a time and season for everything and the more we delay the opportunity someone else could think of it and grab the offer. Also the more we delay the decision making process, the more stranded we would end up in life.

The decision you make may not be the most well known but it’s your choice. Do not expect everyone to go for it. There would be tons of people criticizing or trying to bring you down, do not let it affect you.
The moment the results start manifesting you would notice that their criticism starts to drop. Hence the idea of pleasing everyone is not only impossible but also very foolish. The power of making decisions would be quite easy for a wise person to follow through as he would make his own decision without waiting for others to determine his own destiny. A fool is someone who is standing in the middle of the road and is scared to cross to either side of the road for the fear of being killed by oncoming vehicles.

Probably you have seen millions of people roaming around the streets with proposals of their business plans without implementing what they have written in black and white. They believe in the benevolence of other people in the realization of their dreams and visions. When we fail through the power of making decisions which would help towards implementing our own ideas and plans, we ultimately become victims of our own undoing.

A successful entrepreneur would approach the power of making decisions with the fact that he or she might get it wrong but it is does not deter them from trying or taking a risk, they simply do the best they can with the attitude of handling any circumstances as they arise, this kind of positive attitude is what’s required to be a successful entrepreneur.

It is very scary to make a decision that goes against your current circumstances in life; you may be unhappy, stuck in a rut, but it is a familiar rut and going outside of it feels even more frightening. This is the intellect working against you just as Ka says. I was living in Hawaii, on the Big Island. It was beautiful there but isolated – much more so than I realized before I arrived. And very expensive. I could not work there as an artist as easily as I had hoped because supplies were difficult to get and incredibly expensive and after 3 months I made the decision to go back to Washington State, get my car and drive to Los Angeles where I had many online friends and restart my life. This idea was very scary because I have health concerns and it also put me into financial jeopardy at a time when funds were low. It made no logical sense to leave Paradise where I was sharing a house with another artist. But I made the decision to leave, and flew to Seattle. It was 79 degrees in Kona, Hawaii, and 39 degrees in Seattle! I was literally freezing and shaking outside the airport. I had to bring a car to Los Angeles in order to function there so I had to drive 1,113 miles south to Los Angeles, alone, spending money for hotels along the way to avoid freezing to death in a rest stop at night. It was a long arduous drive over steep snow-filled mountains, pushing onward day and night toward Los Angeles. You think of all you left behind that was so comfortable, yet it was not working for me, so by taking action on my decision I was changing, moving toward what I felt would be better for me – I arrived tired and somewhat ill in Los Angles into a warm, open environment where I had friends and so many more opportunities to work. I was low on funds by now, but in a short time, new opportunities are already opening to me that I would not have had in Hawaii. I already have made friends with internationally known artist TJ Miles and an co-exhibition of our paintings is being planned for 2013. I have many choices of places to live and am meeting new friends who I can help in their work and they can help me in mine. As scary as the decision I made felt and as uncomfortable as it was for me to accomplish, as Ka says, the Universe is showing me ways to be successful here in less than two weeks!

Great video, Ka. It’s like you’re speaking directly to me. I have a job that I like (but not love), a big house with garage for my tools, 3 vehicles, and a studio for my artwork. All this in a beautiful neighborhood with friendly neighbors. But, I am not able to spend enough time with my wife and 3 kids. Also, my wife works and we feel like we’re running a rat race. Too busy! I rarely have enough time for my artwork. Well, my wife and I decided to visit Costa Rica this summer to see if we like it. If so, we will sell everything and move down there (I bought your How to Move to Costa Rica course). This feels so right but it scares me to near death! How am I supposed to support a wife and 3 kids? I am very resourceful and talented. I know I will come up with a great answer. It will definitely be my artwork that will support us. It’s just scary that’s all. Thanks again for the post, Ka.

Good luck on your journey Joseph! I’m listing to the audio version of Seth Godin’s new book – The Icarus Deception. I think you’d probably like it given what I understand of your story. Best of luck!

Thanks for the encouragement, Chris. Also, thanks for pointing me to The Icarus Deception! Just got it on Kindle. This seems to be exactly what I need.

This is great Ka! Thanks for the reminder. And good point that as you lean into bigger outcomes you will still have to make big commitments as your vision grows.
